Brewers reliever tears knee ligament while taking shoe off
The Milwaukee Brewers will start the season without reliever Will Smith, who tore a ligament in his right knee while taking his spikes off after a game, Saturday, March 26, 2016.

Nothing says “Spring Training” like freaky injuries, and Will Smith (no, not that one) gave us one for the ages earlier this week.
Smith said Saturday he was standing on one leg and taking the shoe off the other while getting ready to shower after the game. He could be looking at the majority of the closer action if Smith can’t go. It is still not clear if Smith will need surgery or how much time he will miss. “Everyone tells you there is nothing you can do about it, but you still feel like you are letting people down”.
“The recovery is a little longer with surgery”, Counsell said, per the Associated Press.
Counsell said it is unclear how long Smith will be out, but it would be “significant time”.
The Milwaukee Brewers plans to split closing duties between Will Smith and Jeremy Jeffress could get off to a slow start.

Now it will be on Jeffress to shoulder the load a year after going 5-0 with a 2.65 ERA, 67 strikeouts and 22 walks in a career-high 72 appearances.
