There has been speculation that a trade of left-handed reliever Neal Cotts is forthcoming, so we will see. Late last night, the situation was resolved as Milwaukee announced they had traded the lefty to the Minnesota Twins for a player to be named later or cash.

Rosenthal reports that Cotts is likely headed to a National League team, as several contenders in the NL would have use for a solid lefty out of the bullpen and get first crack at players waived in their own league.
Cotts is making $3 million on a one-year deal. He’s been especially effective against left-handed abtters, limiting them to a. 179 batting average this year.
Rookie Ryan O’Rourke supplanted journeyman Aaron Thompson in early July and has done well against same-sided batters. He only appeared in three games this season with Philadelphia, giving up one hit and no runs in 3 1/3 innings. In 89 plate appearances by lefties, Cotts had allowed just four walks while striking out 24.
Cotts doesn’t have to go far-the Twins are playing a series this weekend in Baltimore, about an hour from D.C.

Reliever A.J. Achter was optioned to Triple-A Rochester to make room for Cotts.
