Davies allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 5 1/3 innings. But in a meeting with staff members Friday, manager Terry Collins said, Harvey insisted he wants to fight through his problems on the mound.

“I’m a rhythm pitcher, so I got into the rhythm”, said Matz after the Carter homer. “But I was able to relax a little bit, calm down”, Syndergaard said.
Syndergaard (5-2) yielded six hits and an unearned run that followed David Wright’s error at third base.

Collins sent the second-year righty back out to start the seventh, and Syndergaard was greeted by consecutive singles by Hernan Perez and Alex Presley for runners on first and third with nobody out.
“You’re putting your normal three-hole hitter back in your lineup – we’re excited to do that”, Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. “You have to single something out, and if you’re a pitcher that can get something else over, you’re going to get some outs”.
Despite the lack of help, Syndergaard has won his last three starts, going at least seven innings in each one.
Michael Conforto homered in the first for the Mets and began the go-ahead rally in the fourth, when he drew a leadoff walk.
The Brew Crew had a strong start with four runs and three strikeouts through five innings, but a 2-run homer from Mets center fielder Yoenis Cespedes in the sixth tied the game at 4, leading to the dramatic finish.
“When he started to get it over, it changed the whole game”, Collins said. “He’s got to give us an outing today”.
Perez was the lone player on either team with two hits.
