Brian Kelly not ready to give up on 2 QB system
“We still have two very good quarterbacks”, he said Tuesday. But until vast strides are made on that side of the ball, the burden will be on Kizer and company to outscore teams every week.

“I haven’t sat down and talked with to either one of them, so before we do that we don’t have any plans to make any decisions.”
A decision of some kind will be reached at some point this week, Kelly later confirmed.
He is also not about to panic after the Fighting Irish gave up 50 points in the opener to a Texas team starting a freshman quarterback in a season-opener for the first time since 1944. Zaire completed 2-of-5 passes for 23 yards.
One of them will wind up as the No. 2, and while Kelly has acknowledged it will be hard to ask one of the former starters to take a step back, he still expects the backup to maintain a certain standard. “Our kids are going to go up ready to fight”.
“That’s really 99 percent attitude and accepting the role that you have. That to me is the most important element of this”.
“The play was reviewed and replay did not feel the action warranted an egregious foul, which is the standard to be applied for replay involvement in targeting fouls that are not called on the field”, Anderson said in a statement. If he wants to signal, he’s signaling. “And that would be a conversation that I would have with either DeShone or Malik depending on who the two is”.
The AP Poll marks the first time the Longhorns have been ranked under Strong, who entered 2016 at 11-14 in two years leading the burnt orange.
Sixth-year senior safety Avery Sebastian and redshirt junior wide receiver Torii Hunter Jr. will go through Notre Dame’s concussion protocol after leaving the Texas game with head injuries, Kelly said.
“Absolutely”, Kelly said during his weekly news conference Tuesday.
“For some reason, he missed”, Kelly said. “There’s no real timeline when you start to expect somebody to clear”. We’re going to be obviously looking at those things today. Fair question. And mind you, if you bleed Alabama Crimson or you make it out to Ann Arbor at least once a season to watch your Wolverines, you probably shouldn’t bother reading beyond this point, but for the time being, the Longhorns are the most exciting thing in college football.
Freshman Shane Buechele (16 of 26, 280 yards, two touchdowns) did just about everything right, save for a third quarter interception that nearly cost Texas the game.
“What really happened in the Texas game was you had the offense that had a chance to win the game”.
“If we’re 10 or 11 games into the season and we have to outscore everybody, I’ll take the questions”, he said.

So if you’re looking for a team to cheer for, especially a team with games coming up against rivals (most importantly, the Red River Rivalry game against the reeling Oklahoma Sooners – ask a UT fan what they think about that team), now might be the best time to jump on the Texas Longhorns bandwagon for the rest of the year. But Texas players are adamant they must remain hungry and humble.
