Brian Peters: Rain today and colder Wednesday in Alabama

This will bring the numbers down a few degrees but will still be in the upper 50s and lower 60s for afternoon highs. At this point, we’re seeing the colder temperatures behind the front along with a northerly wind.

Temperatures will start this morning in the 20s and lower 30s.

These high clouds extended all the way down the Texas coastline and upper level winds will continue to push these clouds across our area. Expect clear skies with a low of 22 degrees Wednesday night.

The bad news is that a cold front is moving through early this morning, spreading patchy, mostly light rain across the region.

Thursday night: Turning sharply colder. The flurries will end Wednesday morning with skies remaining mostly cloudy. Still, if you live north of I-10, there will be a few areas of patchy frost.

FRIDAY: A little wintry mix will be possible, yet most of us will just have mostly cloudy skies, with high temperatures around 39 degrees.

The south wind has returned and that bumped temperatures back to their normal January range topping out in the upper 50s and low 60s Sunday. We need to watch Tuesday very carefully there is as risk for stronger storms Tuesday afternoon and evening.

As cold air wraps into the system, rain could change to snow for northwestern Oklahoma.
