Brian Williams to anchor late campaign newscast for MSNBC
Brian Williams will anchor a half-hour show at 11 p.m. ET on MSNBC in order to recap the presidential election news of a given day, according to Deadline.

Williams was given the MSNBC role after losing his job as NBC “Nightly News” anchor, following an internal investigation into false claims that he made about his news reporting.
The 57-year-old would have a half hour of airtime each night during weekdays to cover the latest news in the presidential race, insiders dished to the news site.
But unlike the “live special editions” of All In with Chris Hayes and Hardball with Chris Matthews, Monday night’s hour did not carry the branding of an existing MSNBC show.
Williams was paired with Rachel Maddow to co-anchor the cable news network’s coverage of some early primary events, starting with the Iowa caucus back in February, foretelling this likely new late-night political gig. Williams show also would compete against local news, and Comedy Central’s politically oriented The Daily Show, among other competitors.

The television news circuit changed in a big way when long-time host Brian Williams was ousted from NBC’s Nightly News in a major scandal in 2015.
