Entertainment Weekly has revealed the new trailer for Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies.

Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks reunite this fall for another wartime story, but this one’s of a chillier sort.

A new trailer for war movie “Bridge of Spies” has arrived.

As previous ads and trailers have summed up, this true story has Hanks as an ordinary late 1950s lawyer suddenly called upon to represent a captured Russian spy, and then to negotiate his return to Russia in exchange for a downed American pilot with classified intel. The title as it now stands refers to the popular Cold War nickname for what’s now the Glienicke Bridge connecting Wannsee and Potsdam: East and West Germany at the time the film is set. It’s Abel who takes to calling Donovan the Standing Man, as he reminds the captured Soviet of a man from his childhood.

Spielberg added: “I thought Tom was the obvious choice to play Donovan”. “Tom’s own morality and his own sense of equality and fairness, and the fact that Tom does such good things in the world, by using, wisely, his celebrity and intelligence and points of view – he has so many of them – that I thought it was a good fit to play Donovan”. Scott Shepherd, Amy Ryan, Sebastian Koch, and Alan Alda also star.

Bridge of Spies opens October 16th.
