Last night Marvel confirmed the reports that Oscar winning actress Brie Larson, best known for Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, and Room, has been cast as Captain Marvel herself, Carol Danvers.

The iconic structure at Disney’s second Anaheim theme park will be turned into a new attraction celebrating the film franchise “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Marvel Studios officials announced at the Comic-Con convention in San Diego.

We could be getting rides for Spider-Man or the new Brie Larson-esque Captain Marvel. She will be the first woman to star in a female-led superhero film from the studio – and boy is she excited.

The 26-year-old will be playing Captain Marvel a.k.a. Carol Danvers, an air force pilot who gains superhuman strength after her human genes were accidentally fused with that of an alien. She was given the title Captain Marvel in 2012 in tribute to the original, who was killed off via cancer in 1982.

Academy Award victor Brie Larson is stepping into the world of superheroes as she is set to play Captain Marvel. One of the names that kept consistently floating around (and regular readers know how much I did not want this to happen) was Ronda Rousey’s.

According to rumors, the character of Captain Marvel may debut in 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1”, even before the release of the standalone movie.

Studio head Kevin Feige then shocked fans by bringing up an unexpected face, saying, “Hold on, hold on, hold on”. While the film has yet to have a director attached, the screenplay will be penned by Inside Out’s Meg LeFauve and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman.

Kong: Skull Island stars Larson alongside Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Goodman who fly off to a mysterious ancient island where they encounter the giant ape.

Brie’s credits include roles in “21 Jump Street” and “Trainwreck” where she was the straight woman to comedians such as Jonah Hill and Amy Schumer.
