Brie Larson stars in first trailer for Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire

Martin Scorsese executive produced the shoot-em-up, which also stars Cillian Murphy and Jack Reynor, and just had it’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Free Fire marks Larson’s return to TIFF, where Room won the People’s Choice Award last September. “You’re trying to crawl for your life”, she said. Frankly, Free Fire (at least in trailer form) looks like the kind of thing Guy Ritchie would have made if he hadn’t taken off for Hollywood. It’ll be a big action year for Larson, who will also star in Kong: Skull Island that year.

The 26-year-old “Room” star said shooting for “Free Fire” was quite hard as she hurt herself lot of times while performing action sequences, reported Female First. “How do I explain this to people?”, said the actress.

Another future role of hers that subverts the female on-screen stereotype? Acclaimed filmmaker Ben Wheatley (Kill List, High Rise) propels the audience head-on into quite possibly the most epic shootout ever seen on film as he crafts a spectacular parody — and biting critique — of the insanity of gun violence.

“That was the reason for doing it”, she said of the trail-blazing role.

Praising the film, they added: ‘It’s a bruisingly effective piece of entertainment carried by comedy, which hits its targets rather more successfully than the wildly strafing bullets’. “I think being the only woman in the film, like she was ― she had a lot to deal with, with a lot of testosterone around her”.
