Bristol again delayed by rain

NASCAR may have looked hard for any free, dry windows of race time given that Bristol will begin transforming the race track into a football field to host Tennessee and Virginia Tech on September 10. This thing was good from the start of the weekend. “We’ve been having parts failures here, so something we’ve got to address and fix. I’m really exhausted of losing races here with parts falling apart”.

“I wanted him (Stewart) to go on a Victory Lap with me and say goodbye to his fans one last time, but that was pretty cool doing burnouts with him”, Harvick said of the double burnout with Stewart. Behind them, Chase Elliott turned Matt Kenseth, who was hard on the brakes, and Ryan Blaney ended up drilling Kenseth. Another cell caused a almost seven-minute red flag with 66 laps remaining.

Keselowski hit the back of Busch’s vehicle as the defending Sprint Cup champ tried to clear him from the lead, cutting down a tire and sending Busch into the wall four laps from the scheduled end.

“I just missed the bottom groove and got loose”, Kurt Busch said.

Harvick made the biggest pass with 70 laps to go, sweeping by Denny Hamlin and holding on to take the rain-delayed race at the half-mile concrete track. That inside with the rosin and the VHT, if you don’t hit it exactly right you lose a lot of time. “That’s stupid, so I don’t know – frustrating day”. That’s the nature of short-track racing. How Harvick Won: After starting 24th in the field, Harvick methodically moved toward the front of the field. That left 452 laps still to be completed when the race resumes on Sunday. “The way that our vehicle was restarting it felt comfortable, it felt good”. Quote of the Day: “The person that is the real moron out here is the driver of the No.46 and the spotter of the No.46”, Kyle Busch on Justin Allgaier after their accident knocked both from the race.

Harvick capitalized on the misfortune of several challengers to take command then pulled away over the final 40 laps to score his second win of the season and first at Bristol since 2005. I got loose off two. The race went green until Lap 255 – following a caution for debris.

Rick Hendrick won’t have Jeff Gordon as an option should Dale Earnhardt Jr. Kyle Larson was another driver caught up in the melee…. Allgaier was subbing in the No. 46 Chevy for Michael Annett, who sat out the race because of flu-like symptoms. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series now heads to Michigan International Speedway next Sunday afternoon. Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Larson dominated the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Bristol on Friday night, but Sprint Cup driver Austin Dillon won the race.
