He shouldn’t feel bad.

The NASCAR track recently transformed into a college football stadium.

Virginia Tech Head Coach Justin Fuente (left) shakes hands with Liberty Head Coach Turner Gill (right) after the Hokies defeated Liberty 36-16, Sept.3, 2016. “To me, that’s the main thing”.

Both teams come into the matchup having won their openers, but neither was all that impressive, the Vols in particular. It’s still a game. “That being said, obviously it’s going to be pretty cool”.

“It’s going to be a lot of people It’s going to be setting the college football record and everything”.

The neutral site game is set to draw more than 150,000 spectators – a college football record. “It’s been fun to see it all come together”.

“Everyone in our program has to have a tremendous sense of urgency to make the progress that’s necessary from Game One to Game Two”, Tennessee coach Butch Jones said.

Sophomore cornerback Adonis Alexander, who started eight games last season, was listed Monday as a starter at cornerback.

“It will be exciting”, Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs said. Alexander also was listed as Brandon Facyson’s backup at the other cornerback spot.

“I’m curious to see how the field will be, like how far the stands and everything will be from the field”, said junior wide receiver Isaiah Ford.

“We can’t make some of the same mistakes we did this past weekend against Tennessee”, running back Sam Rogers said. Meanwhile, the Tennessee defense allowed just 292 total yards and held the Mountaineers to just a 3-of-13 conversion rate on third down.

“I’m sure it wasn’t the performance that Tennessee wanted to have offensively”, Fuente said. I think I’m one of the better special teams players we have and you know special teams is where you can win or lose games. I don’t know those off the top of my head. This is close, as the Volunteers offense didn’t impress in the opener. Jerod Evans, the nation’s top JUCO dual threat quarterback, was the first Hokie to throw four touchdown passes in a single game in 12 years. We had three or four drives in two quarters. We’re going to play a really tough opponent, Virginia Tech. The Volunteers still have talent though, and working out the kinks from the first game will be key in turning into the team everyone thought they would be. So, we did some good things in there. “We have some internal working numbers”.
