Before she closed the ceremony with a spine-tingling performance, Adele was presented with the award for British Album and returned to the stage to deliver one of the sweetest tributes of the night.

Adele – who performed When We Were Young to close the show – said after the event that she had been “worn out emotionally” after her triumphant return to the Brit Awards.

Rihanna was joined by singer Drake as she performed her new song Work.

“I’m only f– -with you cats viva la mind WJPG 21.9.72 son of Margaret boy with the blues”, he wrote, ending his tirade.

Bay revealed the pairing came about when her met Bieber at an MTV Europe Music Awards after-party and the pop superstar simply said he needed a guitarist for his BRITs performance and Bay was more than happy to lend him his strumming skills.
