BRIT Awards: List Of Winners

David Bowie has won the Brit Award for best male artist, the latest posthumous honour for the superstar. Can Craig David make history and scoop the Best Solo Male Artist 16 years after he first won the prize?

Bowie died after a battle with cancer in January 2016.

Later, Bowie’s son Duncan Jones took to the stage to accept the Best British Album award from guest presenter Noel Gallagher.

Famed musician David Bowie has been honoured with two awards at the BRITs, thirteen months after his death.

Grime innovator Skepta received the most nominations with three, including Best Album, British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act, while his mate Stormzy earned a nomination for British Breakthrough Act as well.

Hosted by Emma Willis and Dermot O’Leary, the ceremony took place at The O2 Arena in London.

She then gave a special shout-out to her bandmates, claiming they “wouldn’t still be together” were it not for their friendship, going on to dedicate the award to “all our exes… for helping us to make an wonderful song”, before adding: “Cheers, lads!”

The British group statuette went to The 1975, a quartet from the northern English town of Manchester who first got together as teenagers.

But halfway through the song, the 26-year-old switched things up and debuted a new version of Shape of You – and brought British grime and hip-hop artist Stormzy to perform the brand new remix of his hit single!

The song was introduced by the artist’s former colleagues in Wham!, Andrew Ridgeley, Helen “Pepsi” DeMacque-Crockett and Shirlie Kemp.

The 2017 BRIT Awards have been chock full of extravagant, fire starting, political commentating performances so far!

It is her second win in the category and her fourth Brit Award.

Rag “N” Bone man was the other big victor of the night taking home two awards – the critics choice award and best British breakthrough act.

Global male solo artist went to Drake, the world’s top-selling artist a year ago, who saw off nominees Bon Iver, Bruno Mars, Leonard Cohen and The Weeknd. Drake, Beyonce and A Tribe Called Quest won those categories, respectively.
