Speaking to Europe 1 Radio, he said: “I am not at all anxious about Boris Johnson, but… during the campaign he lied a lot to the British people and now it is he who has his back to the wall”.

Monday’s meeting, which is scheduled to cover a range of issues from violence in South Sudan to Europe’s relationship with China, will also be attended in part by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who will discuss with foreign ministers policies on Ukraine and the Middle East.

U.S. State Department Spokesman Mark Toner offered a diplomatic response Thursday.

Mr Johnson said: “It is very important that people should realise when you leave Heathrow, when you leave Dover, a British citizen is basically the responsibility of the Foreign Office, our diplomacy is run by the Foreign Office”.

BORIS JOHNSON has been shunned by European Union leaders in a humiliating snub for the new Foreign Secretary.

But a third said few wanted to have dinner with the Brit – after he compared the European Union to Hitler in the Referendum campaign. “I know you are working around the clock, I know you’re doing your best and I know that sometimes life can be a struggle”.

Of all the European powers, it is Germany that Britain most wants to bring onside in the negotiations over its withdrawal.

“We think it is critical that negotiations take place in a pragmatic, transparent and smooth manner where both sides demonstrate flexibility in order to produce results that are the right outcome”, he said. She is Britain’s first female lord chancellor. Several senior figures in the former government of David Cameron have been fired as May puts her stamp on the government.

Johnson was the second appointment in May’s new government after she shifted Philip Hammond from the Foreign Office brief to become Britain’s new finance minister. He says Prime Minister Theresa May should kick off exit talks “as soon as possible”.

He was quoted as saying: “Boris Johnson is a crafty party politician who managed to use the euroskeptic mood for himself. It’s also bitter for the European Union”.

The former London mayor led the campaign to take Britain out of the EU.

“We expect the former London Mayor to stay the distance but should there be a wobble from any of May’s recruits the early indicators point towards Boris leaving first”.

Juergen Hardt said in a statement Thursday that, for example, “free access to the common market means, among other things, accepting other fundamental freedoms such as the freedom of movement” between European countries.

Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron said he could not believe Johnson will now represent Britain overseas.

May “made clear we will do an Autumn Statement (budget) in the usual way, in the autumn, and we will look carefully over the summer at the situation”, Hammond told Sky News.
