British actor Tom Holland to play the role of ‘Spider-Man’

The new actor is called Tom Holland, and from what we have seen during the past couple of weeks, he was rumored to be among the front-runners for quite some time. The actor is reportedly known for playing the lead role in “Billy Elliot the Musical” at the Victoria Place Theatre in London, as well as for starring in the movie “The Impossible”.

Any debate about Tom’s acting credentials that might have been generated may have subsided but Twitter is still not happy.

Ever since the improbable news dropped that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures had struck a deal to include Spider-Man in the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, questions have swirled regarding how the two studios would interact.

The film where Chris Evans stars in “Captain America: Civil War” which Holland will play Spiderman is reportedly scheduled to hit the big screens this coming July 28, 2017. The Washington Post reported that a leaked Sony Pictures email contained licensing agreement between the studio and Marvel that stated that Peter Parker must be “Caucasian and heterosexual”.

Fans responded on social media with a mixture of delight, scepticism and sadness at Holland’s new role, reports Digital Spy.

“It has nothing to do with being anti-gay, anti-black, anti-Latino or anything like that”.

SPIDER-MAN fans have been left confused as the superhero in the comic books will be a different race to the star in movie blockbusters.

Yesterday, Sony and Marvel finally revealed that they had chosen an actor to play SPIDER-MAN and the internet rejoiced. It’s exciting, and we’re treating it like we treat all of our films. He added, “For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special”. Watts’s works include the 2014 horror film “Clown” and the upcoming indie thriller “Cop Car“, which made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

He continues to express that they have created the new Spider-Man character for children and adults of color as well as everybody else.
