IT problems have blighted British Airways’ check-in systems, causing major delays and forcing the airline to revert back to manual methods.

“We had a problem with our check-in systems which affected check in for some flights from the USA, but this was not a worldwide issue and there were no cancellations”, British Airways said in a statement, according to CNN Money.
Passengers flying with the airline complained of significant delays at its check-in desks, baggage drop and even on the tarmac waiting to take-off. The company also said it is “doing everything possible to check in customers for their journey”. It is still not clear, how many flights in the world have been affected.
Magazine writer Stefano Andrean said: ” I’ve waited an hour so far at Berlin airport check-in for Heathrow.
One irate passenger in the United Kingdom said his “five hour delay” was “unacceptable”.
The airline apologized and said passengers are being checked in at Heathrow and Gatwick Airports but that the process may be “a bit slower than usual”.

British Airways has blamed “computer” problems for its inability to check in passengers worldwide.
Nevertheless, social media posts of images from airports in Mexico City, San Francisco, Atlanta and Seattle showed crowds gathered around British Airways counters.
According to Bloomberg, some passengers are being issued with hand-written boarding passes.
Liv Boeree from London told the BBC she had queued for the flight in Las Vegas for two and a half hours.
The BA outage comes after Delta Air Lines last month suffered 2,300 flight cancellations, costing about $100 million in lost revenue, after a power-control module caught fire.

The Black Lives Matter activists said they were protesting there because it serves a “small elite” while thousands of non-European migrants are dying while trying to cross the Mediterranean.
