The angry passengers whistled and jeered as the British traveler took down police officers singlehandedly. The man can be seen kicking and punching three police officers during the rampage on 23 July before he eventually drops to the ground and is restrained.
A police spokesperson told the site: “The attacker was an Englishman who was anxious about his wife”.
They also assured people that an investigation against the English passenger is underway.
Frankfurt Police wrote on Facebook that the incident was not terror related and occurred when the 38-year-old started abusing airline staff. Two women wearing headscarves came closer to him as he lay on the ground but their relationship to him is unknown.
Due to bad weather conditions, almost 7,000 passengers had their flights cancelled and many were stranded at the airport on July 23.
In a Facebook post, Frankfurt police acknowledged that the video has been doing rounds on social media and asked users to not spread any rumours or incorrect facts about the incident.
When members of the federal police were called in and attempted to calm the situation down he only got more enraged.
Frankfurt Police said the 38-year-old passenger became angry when his Lufthansa fight to the United Kingdom was cancelled on July 23.
