British media is ‘putting undue pressure’ on Amir: Shahid Afridi

And now that he is out of the national team, the former Pakistan captain has decided to make controversial remarks about the current lot of Pakistani cricketers and whether the country actually has any talent left.

He said that the talent in Pakistan is not meeting the game’s demand. “Sorry. No talent”, he said. But looking at the players coming through, he thought he was definitely more capable of commanding a place in the team. He added that he was never a burden over the team. When I was part of the team I played respectfully, and when I resign I will do that respectfully too.

“I wish to continue playing T20, ODI cricket, whether it is at national or domestic level or leagues”.

Afridi, who scored the fastest century in ODI cricket reaching his hundred from 37 balls, said he left captaincy because he feels he is way more as compared to the other players in the team.

Afridi also said that he is no mood to retire from worldwide cricket, claiming he is still better than many players. “No talent.” Harsh words indeed from Afridi, who was the captain during the Asia Cup and World T20 earlier this year.

“I wish to enter politics but some well wishers and elders advise me against it”, said the 36 year old.

Afridi is now playing for Hampshire in England’s domestic T20 tournament.

He also urged Amir to stay strong in the series in England.

While showing support for Mohammad Amir, Shahid Afridi said that British people has been using this trick and strategy to pressurise those players who have extraordinary talent in them.
