“The Wembley event is befitting the superstar that Narendra Modi is”, Keith Vaz, MP for Indian-majority Leicester told Mirror.
Referring to his meeting with leaders of the Sikh community yesterday, PM Modi said, “We shared our thoughts on various subjects”.
“The event also underscored Mr Modi’s shift from political pariah to – acco-rding to his many supporters – India’s saviour, after he swept to office past year promising economic refo-rm and less bureaucracy”.
Modi is expected to speak to a crowd of over 60,000 British Indians, and the day’s events will culminate with the “biggest firework display in the whole country”.
“The development Mr Modi has done in the last 10 years, since he has been chief minister over there, has been unbelievable”, said Suresh Bhojani, from Bolton.
“Team India and Team United Kingdom, together we are a winning combination”, Cameron said.
Britain and India have announced major business deals and cultural exchanges during Modi’s trip, which ends Saturday, including an Indian tour for historic British texts such as the Magna Carta and the opening of a Madame Tussauds wax museum in New Delhi. “This diversity is our specialty, our pride and our strength”, He said people were astounded when they saw the harmony in the country despite the diverse religions, over 100 languages and different food and culture.
Modi said the government wants to develop Indian railway stations through public-private partnership. He said he was sure of India’s bright future because his vision of India, was the India of Imran Khan who created and gave education apps for free; and of the Sarpanch who had conceived Selfie with India.
