The visit to Kaziranga National Park – the world’s largest one-horn rhino park – is aimed at raising global awareness about illegal poaching.
William and Kate fed all the animals in turn, crouching over the tiniest of the group – two female elephants and a rhino – to make sure they got every drop of milk, and also turning their attention to the older ones.
The British royal couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Wednesday toured Kaziranga National Park in a jeep safari for two hours.
“They were absolutely thrilled and loved being with the animals”, said Vivek Menon, CEO of the Wildlife Trust of India, who joined the couple for their encounter with the animals.
Following the safari trip, the couple visited the the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation at the Kaziranga National Park where Kate opted for a slightly more summery look.
After brief introductions, the couple sat down in a circle by the river with the rangers and park staff and discussed the park’s successful efforts at protecting animals from poachers.
Watching the traditional dance performance the Duchess said the little girls reminded her of 11-month-old Princess Charlotte Mail Online reports.
Kate wore her third outfit of the day, a green patterned dress by American designer Anna Sui. In spite of that, everyone seems to think that Kate should have taken 10 minutes to apply some colorful nail polish to her bare feet.
But an increasing number of villages are being built along the paths of these ancient corridors as locals plant cash crops such as tea in the fertile soil.
They appeared just as cheery while painting a turquoise Elephant Parade statue inside the park!
The couple has already visited Mumbai and New Delhi on a week-long tour of India, which included a game of cricket. She shared, “The next time we come, we will definitely bring them”. Notably, the villagers had shifted their homes to create a corridor for elephants. Various reporters said they felt strong tremors shortly after checking into their hotel.
