British tourists among four feared dead after speedboat overturns off Thai island
Another British national was injured in the accident near the popular tourist island of Koh Samui, according to the Foreign Office.

A British woman died and another Briton, named by police as Jason Parnell, is missing after their boat overturned off the coast of an island popular with backpackers.
A British woman was also killed and a British man is missing, The Telegraph reports.
“The operation resumed at 8am (0100 GMT) with marine police and rescue workers searching near the accident site”, he told AFP, adding that the boat was only a few metres from the pier when it capsized.
The speedboat, packed with 32 tourists, a guide and three crewmen, capsized during its way back to Koh Samui after it was hit by strong waves.
However, t he two bodies that were recovered were reportedly found under the upturned boat.
Four people remained in hospital Friday out of the 28 who were brought for treatment, said Dr. Theerasak Viriyanon. The department has requested local authorities to follow up with the accident through the Chinese Embassy in Thailand.

China’s consular office in Phuket confirmed that one of the five missing tourists is from Hong Kong.
Some reports suggest the passengers died after being trapped underwater, at least one them is believed to be female.
Another British national was injured and a German national is still missing.
The capsized speedboat was pictured floating off the shore.
And in February, British holidaymaker Gareth Crowe was killed after being thrown from his elephant during a trek on Koh Samui.
Several people were rescued by another speed boat while the rest were picked up later by an official rescue boat.

Dozens of tourists watched the aftermath of the speedboat crash as darkness fell.
