Britney Spears will perform live at MTV’s Video Music Awards when it hits Madison Square Garden on August 28, MTV announced on Tuesday.

She also famously locked lips with Madonna in a surprise performance featuring once-rival Christina Aguilera to kick off the 2003 show.

MTV announced the news on Tuesday with a video of an albino Burmese python slithering through Spears’ dressing room. “Some way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever”, Spears is heard saying in a voice-over.

This will be the first time Britney hits the VMAs stage since 2007, so that’s how you know it’s gonna be epic.

The pop icon Tweeted a one-minute video teaser, which ends with confirmation that she will be performing live on the broadcast.

Perhaps Britney’s most memorable moment was in 2001 when she performed I’m A Slave 4 You with a large snake draped over her shoulders.

Remember her “Baby One More Time” / “Tearin’ Up My Heart” medley performance with *NSYNC in 1999?

Fans started to become suspicious once Britney announced her next album would drop on August 26, the same weekend as MTV’s biggest awards show. She’s been living under the conservatorship of her father ever since, who appears to have helped her get health and her career back on track.

“Everyone is so excited about her again and talking on social media, because she says “oops” in it”, music reviewer Charlotte Ryan told Paul Henry.
