Brock Lesnar Suspended, Fined, Win Overturned

Lesnar failed an out of competition test before UFC 200 and returned another failed test hours after defeating Hunt via unanimous decision. His fine amounts to 10 percent of his record $2.5 million base purse (excluding pay-per-view purchases). Lesnar has wrestled 11 matches for WWE this year, but he is a part-time performer and therefore not subject to WWE’s wellness policy.

The 39-year-old was also fined $250,000 of his disclosed $2.5m earnings from the event, with his suspension dated retroactively to July 9. On top of that, Lesnar’s victory at UFC 200 has been overturned as a no contest.

But Lesnar tested positive afterward for the banned substance clomiphene.

Both tests discovered traces of the banned anti-estrogen agent Hydroxy-Clomiphene, a drug which can be used to restore one’s testosterone levels after a cycle of anabolic steroids.

That won’t please Hunt who in July called for Lesner to be stripped of all his earnings from the fight.

Lesnar and his legal team had negotiated a settlement with the commission prior to Thursday’s meeting and it was unanimously approved during a meeting at the Grant Sawyer Building.

Lesnar has also not indicated whether or not he plans to fight in MMA again.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was also given a one-year suspension in line with his United States Anti-Doping Agency ban. Jones was pulled from the UFC 200 card earlier this year due to a failed drug test, and it has taken this time to come up with the appropriate punishment.
