Brock Osweiler: Brock Osweiler throws for 231 and 2 TDs Wk 1

Replays seemed to show Osweiler was stuffed short with Eddie Goldman credited for the tackle.

4-0 – Texans record over the years against Chicago, the only team they’ve never lost to in their 15 seasons.

The 21st overall pick in this year’s draft became the first player in franchise history to have 100 yards receiving in a debut with 107 and a touchdown in Houston’s 23-14 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. It wasn’t one of those bang-bang plays where all of the sudden the other team’s in hurry-up, you have time to look at it, have people see it upstairs and all that. But the man who has won NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year the last two seasons and three of the last four wasn’t the game-changer he has routinely been in the past.

The biggest takeaway is that the Bears had their opportunities to win the game on Sunday.

As for how Floyd played, he was fine. That won’t happen against this Texans D. Texans, it’s time to get our playoff revenge.

“It’s insane, you know?” said Fiedorowicz, 23, who said his brother Kyle, 28, and about 17 former high school teammates attended the game at NRG Stadium. My job was pretty easy.

But I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Perhaps the most important things is that there were no drops. “He’s very smart. He understands the game and knows how the game is to be played”.

“My first game ever was shaky, first two seasons were shaky, had a couple of injuries, but I’m feeling better and going out there competing and having fun”, Clowney said.

It’s hard to defend the Bears after their second-half meltdown against the Texans.

And the only way the Bears can truly gauge what they have and what they need is by playing them and their other young players. The question is, can he also avoid the mistakes that could cost them in close games? That third-down play went for 27 big yards and a first down. “I expect him to come out and play great”. I feel awful for the guy. The only positive statistic was that the Bears were two for two in the red zone. Ted Larsen certainly could have started, but he wasn’t an obvious enough upgrade to sacrifice the valuable experience Whitehair gained in this game. “I thought that at the end there, he was really revving”. Not bad for a rookie working with a quarterback who now only has 8 starts.

– My highest grade of the week went to defensive lineman Akiem Hicks. The Chicago Bears ground game is averaging 73 yards per contest, and Jeremy Langford leads the way with 57 yards and one touchdown. The D-line put no pressure on Osweiler all game; one sack is sad.

– The Bears’ upgrades at inside linebacker were on display Sunday. They combined for 28 tackles between them; 17 for Freeman and 11 for Trevathan. He did not return which should be a concern going forward.

– This game could have – and probably should have – been more lopsided had Texans wide receivers Will Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins not dropped sure touchdown passes. Luckily, we had good coverage that made the quarterback hold the ball. The run struggles weren’t necessarily his fault, although he did admit after the game that he needs to do better after initial contact.

“I tried to forget about it”, Fuller said. And for the most part, they were solid in pass protection. Whitney Mercilus continued his sudden surge starting from previous year as he corralled two sacks.

– New season, same old problem. “I think that happens to nearly every outside ‘backer or edge rusher, 4-3 end in this league, because you’re getting asked to basically play a gap, both inside and out, and be right”. The NFL Competition Committee is trying to help you out here, Bears.
