Brock Osweiler to Remain Broncos Starting QB vs. Bengals
Back up quarterbacks square off on Monday Night Football as AJ McCarron leads the Cincinnati Bengals against Brock Osweiler and the Denver Broncos.

The setback that Peyton Manning experienced last Friday must have been more acute than the team let on, because he did not return to practice Wednesday. He was ruled out against the Steelers. He’s 3-2. If he could just figure out how to duplicate his first half success in the second and learn how to close out games in the fourth quarter, the Broncos will be very hard to beat.
The return to health of Mathis is a considerably more significant development for the Broncos as they prepare to play the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
Two days ago, Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak used the word “big” to describe Peyton Manning’s scheduled Saturday throwing session and conditioning workout, but now said he erred in his language. “… I thought it was a really good week”. There were even rumors back in the summer that the Broncos may be moving to the 6-foot-8 quarterback permanently, as Manning was reportedly considering retirement.
NFL Media’s James Palmer reported that the only difference in Saturday’s workout and the quarterback’s earlier work this week is Kubiak watched this one in person as opposed to watching the film.
Manning scaled back his practice regimen following what Kubiak described as a “hiccup” on December 18. I show my emotion inside the white lines, and when I leave the field, I’m pleased with the win but I try to never get too high or too low.
He hurt his shoulder on a 7-yard scramble at Pittsburgh last week and grimaced on handoffs afterward, but said it didn’t play a role in his poor second half that followed a four-touchdown first half in Denver’s 34-27 loss. For me, it’s just all about doing whatever is best for this football team, and being prepared to play.
But the Broncos lost in Osweiler’s last two starts falling to the Oakland Raiders (Week 14) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (Week 15).

“It doesn’t bother me either way”, Osweiler said. “That’s what we’re focused on right now”.
