Broken leg suffered by USC great Connor Shaw ‘heartbreaking’ to Bears teammates
Chicago Bears QB Connor Shaw broke his leg in ugly fashion. Rakeen Nunez-Roches of the Chiefs hit Shaw. Shaw was expected to undergo surgery, although NFL.com’s Ian Rappaport reported that he suffered no ligament damage and could return later this season.

“Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family”, Fox said.
On the team’s official Twitter account, the Chicago Bears posted that coach John Fox said Shaw’s was “very serious” and he was taken to the hospital.
Before the injury, Shaw had completed 5 of 6 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown, a 16-yard strike to Cameron Martin.
First Connor Shaw’s leg snapped, then he did.
Shaw had seemingly cemented himself as the Bears’ third quarterback – either on the roster or practice squad. Still, thanks to video of said gruesome injury, you can watch it and come to your own conclusion whether he removed it due to a change of heart, a call from a PR staffer, or because he simply came down from his pain meds.
A source close to the situation confirmed the extent of the injury after the game. “That’s just the way it is, that’s just part of football and unfortunately it happened to a great kid”. Trevathan had been limited with a hamstring injury and Langford missed time with a foot injury.

On the sideline: Kyle Long, Zach Miller, Eddie Royal, Deonte Thompson, Deon Bush, Ben Braunecker, Kyle Fuller, Lamin Barrow and Nick Kwiatkoski did not dress. Still, it’s tough to argue with a guy who just got his leg shattered that being bummed out over his season ending before it even really started isn’t a good look.
