The pair won two states each, with Trump taking Kentucky and Louisiana and Cruz adding ME to Kansas to take more delegates overall than the frontrunner.
Trump, in his victory speech in Florida on Sunday, declared himself primed for a head-on contest with Cruz. Cruz has also beaten Trump in Oklahoma and his home state of Texas, while Rubio has only won the Minnesota caucuses.
Rubio picked up only a few delegates, unable to capitalize on the establishment assault on Trump, who called on Rubio to step aside. They are trying to use powerful magnets to drive voters away from Trump but at the moment they don’t have a single magnet to draw in the voters leaving the front-runner. Rival campaigns are exploring ways to prevent Trump from getting the delegates he needs to win the nomination outright, then defeat him at the GOP convention in July.

And in some coming Republican contests, all delegates in the state will go to the victor for the first time in the campaign.

Asked whether he would reject the nomination if drafted, Romney said such a scenario would be “absurd” but left the door open to it, in an interview with CBS’s Face the Nation.

On the Democratic side, Clinton has opened up a big delegate lead and Sanders might have a tough time making up the difference.

The Rubio camp is publicly hopeful that he will pull out a victory in his home state primary March 15, but privately some advisers are urging him to drop out of the race because they believe a loss there could permanently damage his political prospects, according to CNN.
