Broncos Acquire Veteran Quarterback Mark Sanchez In Trade With Eagles

Considering Sanchez’s reputation across the league and the resources the Broncos put into the move, this probably isn’t the team’s only plan for addressing the quarterback position. Sanchez is scheduled to make $5.5 million this season, which could be backup money but might also be a cheap starter. Will it be another trade, this time for Colin Kaepernick?

Now, he’ll have a chance to lay claim to the starting gig in Denver after Elway sent a conditional 2017 seventh-round pick to the Eagles in exchange for the Sanchize’s services.

Enter Mark Sanchez, the first of the Broncos’ moves to fill the depth chart at quarterback. Sanchez took the New York Jets to a pair of AFC championship games in 2009 and 2010 – and those teams were built in similar fashion to the current Broncos, with a stout defense and run-first offense.

That’s probably not the name most Broncos fans were expecting to see, as evidenced by the very first reply to Klis’ news-breaking tweet.

Mark Sanchez is getting a change of scenery and a new job description: replacing Peyton Manning.

Yet general manager John Elway and the Broncos apparently liked what they saw in the 29-year-old Sanchez.

Although he battled foot and ankle injuries last season, Anderson rushed for 720 yards and five TDs.

Multiple sources are reporting the Brock Osweiler has agreed to a contract with the Houston Texans for four years and $72 million.

Sanchez, who the Eagles signed to a three-year contract in 2014, will save the Eagles $4.5 million of salary cap space. He regressed after that, winning just six games during the “butt fumble” season of 2012. He has just two more touchdown passes than interceptions in the regular season (86-84), including 15 interceptions against 18 touchdowns the last two seasons.
