Talib has collected 350 career tackles, 30 interceptions and three forced fumbles with Tampa Bay, New England and Denver since being selected with the 20th overall pick of the 2008 draft by the Buccaneers.

Talib suffered two wounds to his right leg – from one gunshot, as the bullet entered his right thigh and exited his right calf – in the early morning hours of June 5 in Dallas. The story surrounding the bullet wound is still not clear, and both the Dallas police and the National Football League are investigating.

“That was the most important thing, to put these cleats back on and get back out here”, Talib told reporters afterward.

On whether he’d be ready for the season opener, Talib said, “We’ll see how it goes, take it day-to-day”. “I’m not going to talk about that right now”.
