Broncos’ Brandon Marshall dropped by sponsor after kneeling during anthem
In Thursday’s first competitive game of the 2016 season, Denver’s Marshall was the only player from either the Broncos or the Carolina Panthers not to stand while The Star-Spangled Banner played prior to kick-off. The same day that the two NFL players took a knee, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane sat down while the national anthem was played.

The AAFCU is an organization geared toward assisting military families, and was chartered in 1955 as a way to serve the Air Force Academy’s cadets and officers and their civilian relatives.
The Air Academy Credit Union President wrote on Facebook, “While we respect Brandon’s right of expression, his actions are not a representation of our organization or membership”.
Marshall and Kaepernick were college teammates in Nevada and the former said he wanted to show his support for the quarterback’s silent protest.
Although Marshall made it clear after the game that he was not protesting the military, police, or America, he has faced backlash for his decision. At the same time, I didn’t want to just do it as far as ‘I’m going to take a knee, ‘ but I will also donate to programs for veterans and different things like that.
“I lost an endorsement, but that’s OK”.
“I feel like what Kaepernick started, it’s a handsome thing”.
It has released a formal statement for releasing Marshall as a spokesperson.
Marshall, who is Black, is the third NFL player to not stand during the national anthem since Kaepernick began his sideline protest against racial injustice and police brutality.
Taking a peaceful stand for what you believe in is at the foreground of what the United States is all about.
“He is a leader of this team”, Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said after the game.
“I can live with it”, he said, according to The Denver Post. “I support Colin and what he’s trying to do”. “I’m just against social injustice”.

During an interview with CNBC, Stephen Curry said that he applauds Kaepernick for standing up for what he believes in.
