Broncos cut QB Sanchez, save $3.5M

Quarterback Mark Sanchez’s brief time in Denver has come to an end.

After losing the Broncos’ quarterback competition to Trevor Siemian this summer, Sanchez hit the open market as a free agent searching for his fourth team since 2012.

The move on McFadden wasn’t a surprise because rookie Ezekiel Elliott, the fourth overall pick in the draft, is expected to start the September 11 opener against the New York Giants.

On Saturday, as Denver trimmed its roster to 53 players, Sanchez was released, according to a report from NFL Network.

He failed to beat out Trevor Siemian in the competition to take over from Peyton Manning as the Broncos’ starting quarterback, with the franchise trying to trade him instead. “But we know that defense was a big reason why we got to the game and why we won the game”.

The Denver Broncos released Mark Sanchez on Saturday and the veteran quarterback then signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Broncos acquired Sanchez from the Philidelphia Eagles earlier this winter for a conditional 7th round draft pick. “He’s done a nice job, he played well in the preseason, got a lot of snaps, got a lot of experience and we played well”.

There is a chance that Sanchez steals the starting QB job from Prescott but Sanchez needs to improve because even the Broncos were unimpressed with his play.

The five-year veteran started eight games for the St. Louis Rams in 2014 and threw for 12 touchdowns, nine interceptions and more than 2,000 yards. What we saw was a sloppy game that ended with a signature Tony Romo game winning drive.

Mark Sanchez going to the Cowboys makes for another interesting move for Jerry Jones’ squad.

Most significant non-move: Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway has always said the team needs “to stack those draft classes” to be successful and that “our job is not to draft Pro Bowl players but to find the right guys and develop them”.

Over the past week the Denver Broncos chose to cut ties with quarterback Mark Sanchez, leaving him out of a job.

This allows the Cowboys to keep the offense relatively similar if Sanchez has to take over for Dak Prescott for some reason.

Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence was placed on the reserve-suspended list.

McManus is a third-year pro who set an National Football League record by making all 10 of his field goal attempts in the playoffs when Colquitt was his holder and Aaron Brewer his long-snapper.
