“We think the world of Vance and he was having a great camp”, Kubiak said.
ENGLEWOOD-As Vance Walker was getting carted off the practice field Monday, tears filled his eyes.
In the wake of Malik Jackson’s free-agency exit, Walker moved up as the Broncos’ starting right defensive end, with Crick, Billy Winn and Calvin Heuertelou behind him. “We’ll support him through his recovery, and he’ll come back stronger than ever”.
Free-agent acquisition Jared Crick and rookie Adam Gotsis could see an uptick in snaps should Walker be sidelined for any length of time.
“That’s frightful what happened to Vance”, explained the former Nebraska Cornhusker. “Hopefully, he’s going to be all right”. My biggest thing is to try and get better every single day.
Walker appeared in 15 games last season for the Broncos, starting four, with no starts in three playoff games.

The Georgia Tech product, who has 12 regular-season sacks in his career, finished with five combined tackles in three postseason games on the way to Denver’s Super Bowl title a year ago. From there, he’s bounced around the AFC West, playing 2013 with the Oakland Raiders (where he started 15 games, a career-high), 2014 with the Kansas City Chiefs, and past year with the Denver Broncos.
