Broncos Defense Stymies Panthers, Denver Wins Super Bowl 50
Peyton Manning could be playing his last game on Sunday when the Denver Broncos face off against the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara is here, and the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers are ready to battle in the biggest game during the National Football League season.
In his first and only Super Bowl appearance, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Brad Johnson had an underwhelming performance, completing just 18 of 34 passes for 215 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Super Bowl XXXVII.
With the Panthers trailing late in the fourth quarter 16-10, Cam Newton was strip-sacked by Broncos linebacker Von Miller.
He was named Super Bowl MVP.
But Newton escaped him for runs of 11 and 12 yards – Miller’s hard tackle out of bounds bothered several Panthers – and a 19-yard pass to Greg Olsen on a misdirection play kept alive Carolina’s first scoring drive.
The Broncos scored a touchdown on Miller’s first forced fumble only 8:33 into the game as Malik Jackson fell on the loose ball in the end zone. Once again, he got around Remmers and knocked the ball out of Newton’s hands.
Their effort enabled Peyton Manning to likely end his career on a high note with a second Super Bowl title as the legendary quarterback is expected by many to retire. Miller had 2 sacks in that one, too.
The Panthers defense was just about as stingy, but couldn’t come up with the game-changing turnovers that Denver provided. I want to go kiss my wife and my kids, I want to go hug my family.
So what: The Broncos (15-4) are champions and Manning is the first quarterback to win Super Bowls with two franchises, Indianapolis in 2007 was the other. Although the offensive line played pretty well all season, it couldn’t handle Denver’s two all-star pass rushers.
At every turn, and after every Broncos three-and-out gave the Panthers the ball and another opportunity to claw closer, the Broncos defense was there to put their foot down. They made more plays than us, and that’s what it comes down to. They lost in Super Bowl 38 to New England while the Broncos have won twice, back to back in 1998 and 1999.

Denver safety T.J. Ward said the number of Denver fans, which noticeably outnumbered the number of Panthers fans at the stadium on Sunday, helped tip the game in his team’s direction.
