Broncos healthier as they prepare for Steelers

PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping injured stars Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown will play Sunday against Denver in the divisional round of the playoffs. Roethlisberger revealed the extent of his injury Tuesday on a Pittsburgh radio show.

“He’s trying to go over and defend the play”, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said after the game.

The question for the Steelers will be if a banged up Roethlisberger shot up with pain killers is a better option than Landry Jones, who threw three touchdowns and four interceptions this season, including one that almost ended their season last week. He is in the concussion protocol after being struck in the head by Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict late in the fourth quarter. Tomlin said Tuesday that Brown was not yet at the team facility and provided no further information on his status. The coach adds that running back DeAngelo Williams and his injured right foot is “on the outside looking in”.

While many blamed it on the intense emotions of the wildcard game, the league said that he had “repeated violations of safety-related playing rules” when they handed down the penalty.
