Broncos LB Brandon Marshall loses endorsement after anthem controversy
“People are going to bash me on social media but at the end of the day I’m going to go home and sleep peacefully knowing what I did was right”.

With these strong ties to the US military, the credit union said in a statement on Friday that Marshall’s move not to stand for the national anthem went against what it stands for.
“I definitely got more negative (feedback)”.
Marshall posted on Instagram after Thursday’s game to communicate why he was kneeling.
Marshall’s teammate linebacker Von Miller said Judy Battista after the winning game that he supports Brandon and Kap’s protests. And while he said he was prepared for the consequences of his actions, it wasn’t easy coming from the supporters he loved. “I prayed about this long and hard, and decided this is what I wanted to do”.
“I looked at my phone and I already have a bunch of hate comments, and this is why I’m doing this”, Marshall said. “Regardless of what I say, it’s going to be spun in a different way or they are still going to say what they want and believe what they want”. This was the right platform.
Marshall is the third player to refuse to stand for the anthem since Colin Kaepernick did so last month in protest at what he sees as racial injustice. In the eyes of a lot of people, I’ll be respected.
He finished with six tackles in the Broncos’ 21-20 season-opening win over Carolina.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – Colin Kaepernick has brought some of his San Francisco teammates closer with his national anthem protests against social injustice. At times people want us to just shut up and entertain them, shut up and play football, but we have voices as well. “And so we didn’t make an issue of it, and if they believe in a cause, that’s fine. We are actually educated individuals that went to college”, Marshall said. Marshall said he’ll continue to protest during the anthem this season. “I know this is right”.

Though not everyone has positively received the linebacker’s protest, Broncos coach Gary Kubiak spoke positively about Marshall on Friday.
