The Chicago Bears were shut out in a preseason game for the first time since 1981, as they lost to the Denver Broncos 22-0 in week 1 of preseason play.

John Fox meets up with his former team when the Chicago Bears host the Denver Broncos in NFL Preseason Week 1 action tonight at 8PM ET.

Sanchez, who has thrown almost as many interceptions (84) as touchdown passes (86) during his career, threw a pass that was intercepted by Chicago linebacker Jerrell Freeman on the Broncos next series.

Sanchez and Siemian have been splitting first-team reps throughout training camp with rookie Paxton Lynch taking the third-team reps.

“One of them is going to play with those guys, and one of them is not”, Kubiak said of the quarterbacks’ working with the starters. “So we’ll take a look at it, the limited amount of plays we were in and look at it”. I don’t know that we executed as well as any of us expected. “It’s the first preseason game, but we have a lot of work to do”.

On the Broncos first drive, the defending Super Bowl champions had a long scoring drive that was capped off with a 32-yard strike from Sanchez to receiver Demaryius Thomas.

The Bears’ starting defense gave up a touchdown on its opening drive, and the offense got only one first down on three drives, culminating in a shaky start to the preseason.

Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Charles Johnson that completed a 96-yard drive. Erickson also caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from A.J. McCarron with 47 seconds remaining in the first half.

Gary Kubiak, for his part, has seemed pretty excited about Trevor Siemian since he was drafted, always making a point to mention him when quarterback battles come up. They aren’t the fastest players on the field, nor the biggest. Sanchez will start under center on Thursday, while Siemian will take over in the second quarter and Lynch will play in the second half. The more I can play him, the more I can find out about him.

I’m not expecting a ton from the Broncos this season as a whole, as I think losing two starting quarterbacks is had but it’s even harder when you replace them with a rookie and a quarterback who is most known for fumbling a ball off of a lineman’s butt.

“We need to get better”, Cutler said. This is not one of those times.
