Whether it’s the Denver Post’s Mark Kiszla, Mile High Report, or Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, everything we’ve heard in the last week has only pushed forward the belief that something fishy is going on down at the Broncos facility; the belief that Manning’s injury is simply the flawless excuse for John Elway and the Broncos to move on to Brock Osweiler. It’s the first time any National Football League team has not been penalized since the Patriots against the Texans in Week 13 of the 2013 season. They’ve been very consistent with what they do, defensively. The Bears had gained a net of 179 yards on 37 plays (4.8 yards per play) at the point of the interception.

That raised questions about whether Fox is driving his players too hard during the week, since Rolle is one of several who have been injured in practice. He’ll do his job.

Belichick and his shape-shifting defensive ways present quite the challenge, all right. Osweiler revealed that he was preparing for his first start for a long time and did not waste a single day in preparing for it. Two of those came when Kubiak was the team’s offensive coordinator. That’s disappointing. There are going to be things out there and things said, but I know what’s going on.

And it must be said that running the same play you had just run the play before for the touchdown didn’t look good, especially when the Denver defense stuffed Jeremy Langford for no gain.

If he comes back and stays on the bench as the backup, why would the Broncos keep him on the roster-for $19 million when they want to extend Brock and pay him like a starter? The New England Patriots had just fallen to the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 41-14 and it not only resulted in a fourth quarter benching of starting quarterback Tom Brady but also triggered numerous cries that the Patriots and – more specifically – Brady were done.

Osweiler at least provides the challenge of a quarterback with the arm strength to throw downfield and to either sideline, and the mobility to escape the pocket and throw on the run. “So we’re going to focus on winning today and enjoy winning and we’ll go back to work next week”.

Alas, cooler heads prevail, “Patriots is a defense that kind of eats young quarterbacks for lunch so we’ll see how he does after this weekend”, said one Broncos fan.

“We’re day to day, week to week”, Kubiak replied. They sacked him five times and hit him six times and yet they forced zero turnovers. “That’s the most important thing”, Kubiak said.

You might like ice cream, but Belicheck forces you to eat broccoli. “I can do that without watching the tape”. Slauson, however, said they are no more physical than what he experienced playing for Rex Ryan and the NY Jets or Marc Trestman with the Bears in 2013 and 2014. “It will be exciting”.
