Broncos, NFL players react with joy to Von Miller’s monster contract
Rather than making $14.129 million as Denver’s franchised player, Miller is now the highest-paid defensive player in the league after inking a six-year, $114.5 million deal.

Nevertheless, now that Miller’s contract dispute is settled and his threats to sit out the entire season are officially over and done with, we can move forward and look at how this mega deal is going to affect the Broncos and the rest of the league going forward. But Miller is worth it. Von had to get fair value for his body of work with the organization, and this deal seems fair.
Von Miller got a monstrous contract, befitting a sack-happy Super Bowl MVP.
Miller reacted by cropping general manager John Elway out of an Instagram photo which also included head coach Gary Kubiak, defensive cohort DeMarcus Ware and newly-retired quarterback Peyton Manning.
The two of them patched up their differences as talks reignited and the man Elway has called the best player he’s ever seen will be back in uniform when the Broncos report to training camp. Now he’s worked himself into a three-year deal that will pay out $23.3 million per year, and that puts him behind only Andrew Luck in terms of guaranteed earnings. National Football League fans are fully aware of what Miller showed last season, racking up five sacks, two forced fumbles plus and a crucial interception that broke the New England Patriots in the AFC championship.
In 2015, Miller led the Broncos’ No. 1-ranked defense (283.1 ypg) in sacks (11), tackles for a loss (9), quarterback hits (32), forced fumbles (4) and fumble recoveries (3).
BEARS: Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will play under the franchise tag next season after the two sides failed to agree on a long-term contract extension by Friday’s deadline.
After seeing defensive contemporaries such as Vernon pocket mega-money deals, Miller, who is one of the NFL’s premier players – was entitled to feel that he deserved more.
Miller’s agent, Joby Branion, and the Broncos agreed to the overall parameters of the deal last month but an agreement on Miller’s guaranteed money has now been reached. In a short video posted by the team, Wilkerson said it was for five years.
Super Bowl MVP Von Miller practiced both pirouettes and patience this offseason. Cousins will earn $19.95 million next season and will be the first quarterback to play on the franchise tag since Drew Brees did so with the San Diego Chargers in 2005.
