Broncos notebook: ‘Bad Weather’ C.J. runs to the rescue

And that’s over two seasons!

Liverpool’s Divock Origi and James Milner set to miss Sunderland trip
The German has warned Benteke that he needs to do more for the team if he is to have a long-term place in his plans. We want to develop, get more points in this very, very important moment in the league.

Maybe after losing two straight games, the Broncos – who clinched a playoff berth last night – have re-found their mojo. The difference was a 37-yard field goal on the first overtime possession by Denver’s Brandon McManus, and the Bengals’ failure to seize the moment.

Suns’ Eric Bledsoe to miss rest of season
Bledsoe can be the Suns’ best backcourt defender, although at times during the recent troubles he has not shown it. The Suns will need to tighten up there; that would have been their charge even with Bledsoe.

Denver allowed 85 rushing yards in the first half, just 23 in the second.

The draw means Leicester have lost just twice this term as they bounced back well from their loss at Liverpool to underline their credentials.

Denver’s comeback denied the Bengals (11-4) their first road win on a Monday night in a quarter century. Green torched the secondary in all kinds of ways, just as Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown had done the week before. He played the entire second half following both injuries.

The Broncos’ defense sealed the victory when a snap went through the arms of Cincinnati quarterback AJ McCarron. Anderson touchdown run with 11:17 left in regulation. “I am proud of this team”. “We’ve started fast and finished slow, and we thought we’d do the opposite this week”. “There’s a lot of things we wish we could’ve had back. We focused on our jobs, one play at a time, and we were able to march down the field”.

Denver made critical halftime adjustments, going with a hurry-up offense which surprised the Bengals and created future openings in the run game. I don’t think the city of Cincinnati can handle another first-round exit.

It’s a remarkable turnaround when looking back at where the Broncos were after the first six games, undefeated at 6-0 and riding high, while the Chiefs were 1-5 at the same time and had just lost their all-time leading rusher, Jamaal Charles. They drove down the field, but the game should have ended one play before it did.

As if that loss didn’t shake the Bengals to their foundation, McCarron’s fumble on the final play of the game in overtime led to a left wrist injury. We then had the possibility of several AFC playoff outcomes determined by what was clearly a bad call, but the Bengals saved Hochuli’s bacon on the very next play.

But in the end there was only more angst for a fan base waiting for a sign that the Bengals have crested the big-game hill as the Denver Broncos rallied from 14 points down to win 20-17 in overtime. “I wanted a chance to redeem myself, obviously”, McManus said. Or maybe the Bengals are just Bengaling, the way they’ve tended to flop in crunch time year after year under coach Marvin Lewis. They may yet get over the hump and they have played better in primetime games this season than in years past, but until they prove they can play consistently well for 60+ minutes and win in these situations they should not be trusted.

Keeping warm during the first half of the Broncos match against Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, in Denver. As it stands, they’ll have to roll it all into Week 17, and a trip to Baltimore on January 3, to see what fate will bring. This win gave the Chiefs their ninth in a row, and keeps the pressure on the Broncos in the division race.

“It means everything”, he said. They’re ready to go to work next week. Osweiler appeared to hyperextend his left elbow while getting sacked by Carlos Dunlap late in the first half.
