Broncos now looking to trade Mark Sanchez

The Broncos brought in Austin Davis on a one-year deal to mentor starter Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch, neither of whom have ever thrown a pass in the National Football League regular season. Sanchez quickly agreed to a deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

But Sanchez ended up being surpassed by 2015 seventh-round pick Trevor Siemian last month and became expendable. We’ve got a lot of confidence in Trevor and believe that he can do the job.

“Obviously there are certain things when you lose a guy like Peyton Manning, but I think with Trevor, the way that he handles [everything] for a young guy that hasn’t taken a lot of snaps – he handles things very well and he handles the huddle very well”. Sanchez, however, was beaten out by second-year pro Trevor Siemian, a seventh-round pick in 2015 from Northwestern. And his debut comes on a huge stage – a Super Bowl rematch with the Carolina Panthers, in prime time, on a Thursday night with no other game to provide any sort of cover for what happens in downtown Denver.

“I’m excited about offense”, Elway said.

Hillman led the team in rushing last season, but played only sparingly in the Super Bowl when C.J. Anderson ran for 90 yards and Denver’s only offensive TD.

The addition of Sanchez gives Prescott a backup who has made 72 regular-season starts and played in two AFC championship games, with the New York Jets in 2009-10.

The Cowboys had been in contact with the Broncos about a potential trade, but they did not want to pay his $4.5 million salary.

“He should be proud”, Elway said.

Broncos: Riley Dixon, who won the punting job from Britton Colquitt, had an 18-yarder late in the first half.

Roby said the rest of the country may view the Broncos as a one-hit wonder, but he’s pretty sure the Broncos can sustain their dominance and carry the team to another trophy regardless of who’s throwing the ball to Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas.

Elway said he was comfortable with three running backs “at this point in time”. Marshall, who was cut three times by the Jaguars before landing on Denver’s practice squad in 2013, signed a four-year, $32 million deal this summer. “Obviously, Britton did a great job for us and really kicked well at the end of previous year”.

Second-year quarterback Jameill Showers survived the initial round of cuts after a marginal showing in the preseason finale against Houston, but Sanchez’s arrival could change his status. Elway is not in the habit of putting the highest-paid player at a position on the bench.
