Broncos offer LB Von Miller six years, $114.5M
Shortly after it was reported that the Denver Broncos offered Von Miller a six-year, $114.5 million contract extension, Mike Klis of KUSA reported that the Super Bowl champions have pulled the offer.

Miller said during a White House press conference Monday that “real progress” had been made in contract negotiations in recent days. The Broncos could theoretically retain Miller under the franchise tag for the next two years for roughly $32 million, though both sides have spoken publicly about their intent to sign a long-term deal.
Von Miller is looking forward to the accomplishment of a new long-term deal with the Denver Broncos and is keeping the faith with the ongoing negotiation.
The Broncos claimed the NFL’s top prize earlier this year with a victory over the Carolina Panthers, which also proved to be legendary quarter-back Peyton Manning’s final game. The sides have until July 15 to work out a longer deal, but Broncos general manager John Elway put in a Tuesday night deadline to get the linebacker to attend this week’s mandatory minicamp and to not miss the offseason program. He recorded five sacks in the team’s run through the playoffs, including two in Super Bowl 50 that helped him win the MVP award.
He’s already guaranteed more than $14 million next year on a one-year contract. A player in today’s National Football League can not allow teams to completely control their contract negotiations, as it takes away their ability to force teams to respect a player’s value.
This means the Broncos and Miller are roughly $20 million apart.
Coach Gary Kubiak said he spoke briefly with Talib before the medical staff checked him out and charted a course of recovery for the Pro Bowl cornerback, who is due $8.5 million in base salary next season. “It’s possible he could sit out the season because that would prevent the Broncos from again applying the “exclusive” franchise tag next year”, Klis wrote.

Since-traded lineman Ryan Clady received the franchise tag in 2013, as did wide receiver Demaryius Thomas in 2015. But the most important thing is what we do out there on that field and how we get ready to play. “Anybody who has been a football fan has watched what is one of the greatest Hall of Fame careers ever”, Obama said, with the team standing behind him in the White House Rose Garden.
