Broncos’ Peyton Manning has torn plantar fascia in right foot

“To me, that’s an easy way out”, he said. “I can’t say that”. The injury is to Manning’s right foot, which is his planting foot, which could explain why he’s been so unable to push off and step into his throws.

On Saturday, he showed up with a new ailment: sore ribs. Coach Gary Kubiak said Peyton would remain the starter if healthy, but this report confirms he is clearly less than 100 percent.

“He’s a competitor. He wanted to go, he felt like he could go but I’m disappointed in myself because I probably should have made that decision yesterday and I didn’t”. “Let me just say this: Obviously, I’m very disappointed in the football game. I needed to make probably that tough decision there”.

Speaking on condition of anonymity because the Broncos haven’t addressed specifics of Manning’s injury, the person confirmed reports from ESPN and KCNC-TV in Denver that Manning has a tear in the thick tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes and creates the arch of the foot.

Earlier Manning completed a 4-yard pass to running back Ronnie Hillman in the first quarter to become the NFL’s all-time passing yardage leader, surpassing the previous high by Brett Favre. He went 14 for 24 for 146 yards and led two scoring drives.

CHIEFS ARE IN IT: There are seven teams within two games of the last wildcard spot, and the Chiefs are in that crowd. Charles’ replacement, Charcandrick West, ran for 69 yards and scored on an 80-yard catch and run from Alex Smith.

“I got emotional. I didn’t really mean to punch”, Ward said, adding he’s concerned he’ll follow Talib on the NFL’s suspended list for losing his cool. Ward intimated that the Chiefs were playing dirty.

Osweiler’s first start comes against former Broncos coach John Fox and his staff, who know all about his strengths and tendencies.

“I hate football”, Manning said, via the Associated Press.
