Broncos’ Peyton Manning out two more weeks with torn plantar fascia
As the Broncos announced yesterday that Peyton Manning will miss at least two more weeks with his foot injury, the need for quarterback depth was heightened.

Kubiak also revealed that Manning is in Charlotte, North Carolina to consult with a well-known orthopedic foot specialist, Dr. Robert Anderson.
Rumors spread Sunday night that Peyton Manning was thinking about playing the 2016 season, even if it meant leaving the Denver Broncos. “We’re all in on the Patriots”, Kubiak said. “We made the decision we made last week (to start Osweiler)”.
Osweiler has already been named the starter in the Broncos’ next contest against the undefeated New England Patriots – a development that could fall into the be-careful-what-you-wish-for category.
“I wish I had a broke bone instead”, Spilborghs said Tuesday. “So, that’s got us back to some of our base offensive type stuff”. As an athlete, you respect what the team doctors have to say and what the trainers have to say, but you’ve got to do your due diligence. “And for me and for the rest of my teammates it’s winning games, and we’ve been doing that more than we haven’t been”. “I just want him to get healthy and do whatever he can to do that”. Osweiler started last week against the Chicago Bears and led the Broncos to a 17-15 victory. If Manning’s backup, Brock Osweiler, continues to play well, as he did in Week 11, there’s a chance Manning might not see the field again this season.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Coples, in his fourth season, appeared in 10 games while making two starts.
Anderson recommended Manning spend this week in a walking cast – a treatment for the torn plantar fascia in his left heel – followed by additional rehab. Peyton being the true professional in every way accepted the new look; one that was put in place to strengthen the Broncos running game.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that Manning might not get his job back if Osweiler performs well in what amounts to an in-season audition.

“The message this week was, ‘Let’s protect the football and play, ‘” Kubiak said. “That’s hard for him, but he’s been great with me”. “I visit with this guy on a regular basis and we talk all the time”. That part is frustrating for him, but he is very excited for his football team. “It’s been a short week, it’s been a day and a half, and I’ve focused all my attention on that defense and trying to figure out a way for us to move the ball a little bit”.
