Broncos Propose A Six-Year, $114 Million Deal To Von Miller
The on-going contract situation between the Denver Broncos and Super Bowl MVP defensive end Von Miller just got even more interesting, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Broncos have proposed a six-year, $114 million contract to Von Miller and his team of representatives.

A year ago, it was Demaryius Thomas and not Von Miller in franchise tag limbo with the Denver Broncos. This proposal comes just days after Miller himself told reporters that the two sides had made “real progress” in recent days. The league deadline to sign a long-term contract before the franchise tag kicks in is July 15, but the Broncos wanted to move up the date to get Miller into this week’s minicamp, which he has not attended.
Normally, a player is insane for not accepting a six-year, $114 million deal. As the “exclusive rights” franchise player he can negotiate only with the Broncos and can receive offers from no other teams. If they don’t, he can only play on a one-year deal in 2016. Both missed their entire offseason workout program before signing their long-terms deals prior to training camp in July.
Executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway was expected to speak to Talib sometime after his return to the team’s complex in Englewood, Colo. The Broncos had a similar situation going on past year with receiver Demaryius Thomas and got the deal done at the 11th hour.
Miller’s situation may prove more complicated, as the Super Bowl MVP outside linebacker is seeking to become the NFL’s highest-paid defensive player, with more in average salary and guaranteed money than Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who makes $19.06 million per year on average. Per Spotrac, the Broncos are now over the cap by more than $11 million, and the franchise will be dealing with plenty of tough decisions in the coming years.

As we passed along previously, the Broncos reportedly had a six-year offer on the table worth $114.5 million. Vernon has 29.0 career sacks and no playoff appearances.
