Although the Jaguars have already sealed a ninth straight non-winning season and could be officially eliminated from the playoffs by Sunday, plenty of motivation remains as they play out the remainder of the year.
The Jaguars looked to respond with a drive of their own, as they had a nice drive going with a 21-yard pass to Allen Robinson, and a 10-yard end around run by Marqise Lee.
The Jacksonville Jaguars can reach another miserable milestone Sunday against Denver.
Here are the keys to victory for each team.
As expected, Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch will be making his second career start at Jacksonville a little more than 100 miles away from where he grew up in Deltona, Fla.
The transition for any rookie quarterback can be hard, but especially one coming from Memphis’ spread offense, where Lynch did not operate under center.
Local players to watch: Denver – S T.J. Ward (Oregon).
“I feel like I’ve come a long way from first getting here and seeing the playbook for the first time”, Lynch said. The Broncos run defense stiffed somewhat on the next two runs to force a third and four try for the Jaguars. Gary Kubiak can protect his rookie QB in multiple ways.
But there is still time left, and the Broncos can put pressure on the teams above them with a big win here today against the Jaguars. Despite this large point difference, the Broncos defense ranks fourth in the National Football League by only allowing 314 yards per game and the Jaguars defense ranks sixth, allowing 321 yards per game. With an interception in the first half (although not his fault) Bortles now has thrown 50 interceptions in his short career. He makes bad reads and throws into some ridiculous coverages. Can back up quarterback Paxton Lynch lead the Broncos offense while Siemian sits the bench? These are symptoms of a team that either doesn’t have the resolve to dig deep inside with the game in the balance, or doesn’t know how to win. While he has improved since Nathaniel Hackett took over as offensive coordinator, there’s nothing a play caller can do about their quarterback throwing the ball into coverage.

Broncos beat Jaguars 35-19, Oct, 13. The Broncos need to come out with an attitude that they can establish dominance and take over this game from the opening kickoff. The offseason losses of defensive tackle Malik Jackson and inside linebacker Danny Trevathan has made this team vulnerable up the middle.

The contest is a should-win for Denver, but hardly a guarantee. Jacksonville has a very poor offense that is averaging just 19.5 points and 346.2 yards per game.
