Broncos safety fined for hit to Newton’s head

The NFL and the NFL Players Association each said earlier in the week they are investigating the response by medical personnel during the game after Newton absorbed multiple hits to the head.

However, his father has concerns.

“I’ll do it again”, Marshall declared shortly after saying he’ll fight his $24,309 fine for launching himself at Newton in Denver’s 21-20 win over the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League opener last week.

Denver safety Darian Stewart was fined $18,231, and linebacker Brandon Marshall was levied a $24,309 fine.

Panthers backup quarterback Derek Anderson started warming up after one of the collisions on Newton and was certain he’d be in the game following Stewart’s hit, which left Newton on the ground for 30 seconds left before he was helped up by trainer Ryan Vermillion. “My job is not to lobby for my health”, Newton told local reporters on Wednesday. I’m not here to worry about pensions. I’m not here to worry about worker’s comp. The decision includes 10 neutral-site championships this academic year, which means relocating the ACC football title game that was scheduled to be played in Charlotte in December. This is a physical sport. “To play the kind of game we did today – really hot, last game of a long road trip – I give them a ton of credit”. “I was asked on the sideline about awareness and my ability to keep going from the referee, as well as the training staff”, Newton said.

The Panthers face the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday.

Stewart immediately said he would appeal any fine he got from the league, while adding that he thought he led with his shoulder when making the hit and conveying doubt about Newton running or throwing.

Newton, though, showed on Wednesday that he is quite sick of the topic, poo-pooing any talk about the potential damage inflicted by those hits and absolving his team of any wrongdoing in how they handled things.

“Cam is in that superhuman mindset right now”, Cecil Newton said. Now if they can just figure out a way to prevent those pesky helmet to helmet hits that cause those concussions, maybe we can finally get somewhere on the issue. That’s it. Winning. Winning football games.

“We reviewed all of the hits in the game, just like we do for every other game”, NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino said on Tuesday’s edition of NFL Total Access, “and there was one call that we felt was missed”.

The team has been accused of playing dirty, but head coach Gary Kubiak disagrees.

“I know what it looked like, ” Marshall said. “That comes with football, it being a contact sport”.
