Broncos Shut Out Bears in Preseason Opener

Mark Sanchez will start the Denver Broncos’ preseason opener at Chicago on Thursday night after being listed as the co-starting quarterback on the team’s depth chart released Monday.

Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch rushes the ball against Chicago Bears outside linebacker Sam Acho during the second half at Soldier Field on August 11.

“I don’t think you want to hit the panic button yet, it’s the first preseason game, but there’s a lot we’ve got to get better at”, Cutler said, per the team’s official Twitter account. Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch also didn’t look half bad, as the Broncos really weren’t given an easy indication of who should start in Week 1.

Trevor Siemian went seven-of-12 for 88 yards, while Paxton Lynch went seven-of-eight for 74 yards.

The Denver quarterback situation has been in a state of chaos since Peyton Manning retired after the Super Bowl previous year and the team elected to let Brock Osweiler leave via free agency. Gary Kubiak said before leaving the field, “I saw a lot of things carried over from practice….” Sacks have become more rare, and his confidence and resilience appear to be rising, evidenced by a 14-of-17 stretch Tuesday that followed an interception on his first pass.

Over the last two years combined to start his National Football League career, Latimer has caught just eight passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. As a rookie, Siemian played one play last season for the Broncos, and it was a kneel-down.

Alshon contributes: There were few positives for the Bears in Thursday night’s loss, but a major one occurred on their very first play from scrimmage. “There’s something about him this year, which is exciting for us”. Fortunately, the receiver was so open that the poor throw didn’t matter, and Thomas simply waited for the ball to fall into his hands. It is all up for grabs at this point, and the revamped Bears defense will be salivating to get after these three QBs.

The two quarterbacks have split virtually all of the plays with the starting offense in training camp, with Lynch getting a smattering of plays.

“It’s just kind of where we are right now”.

Sanchez started, and after the opening southpaw toss, he showed some of the best of his game but also displayed why turnovers have plagued him for much of his career.

I haven’t forgotten Norwood’s incredible return in the Super Bowl, which was the longest in SB history, at 61 yards.
