Broncos sign Austin Davis to one-year contract
Sanchez failed to win the Broncos starting gig vacated by Peyton Manning’s retirement despite the fact that he was competing with two guys who have never thrown a pass in the NFL.

They were reportedly close to trading him to Dallas.
The Broncos release of Sanchez means the Eagles will not get a 7th round 2017 pick from Denver, which was contingent upon Sanchez starting for the Broncos. Mark Sanchez is 37-35 in his 72 career starts, including 0-2 last season with the Eagles. The team will also save $3.5 million by releasing Sanchez, NFL.com reports.
After being released by the Denver Broncos, quarterback Mark Sanchez has officially signed with the Dallas Cowboys to serve as a backup to rookie Dak Prescott, the franchise announced on Saturday. Minnesota may have been one of them but the Vikings made a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire Sam Bradford, who Sanchez backed up a year ago in Philadelphia. America’s Team will have a rookie quarterback at the helm after 36-year old starter Tony Romo suffered a back injury in the third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. But the veteran lost the job to relative unknown Trevor Siemian.
Sanchez was 20-of-30 passing for 219 yards and one touchdown with one interception in two preseason appearances. In three of his four seasons with the Jets, Sanchez fumbled 10 or more times.
After a reported attempt to trade the veteran to the quarterback-needy Cowboys, Denver made a decision to outright release Sanchez on Saturday.
Sadly, this move shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone when considering the lack of options for Dallas when it comes to backup quarterback.
In six National Football League seasons, Sanchez has thrown 84 interceptions and fumbled the ball 51 times.

In his place, the team has brought on Davis, who last played for the Cleveland Browns.
