It was reported on Wednesday that the team signed Sanders to a three-year contract extension.

Terms were not disclosed, but a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Sanders’ contract is worth $33 million, with $27 million guaranteed.

After a busy offseason of negotiating new contracts, Broncos general manager John Elway made sure to work in one final deal before Denver kicks off its regular season on Thursday.

No strangers to prolonged contract extensions are the Broncos, who had a very public negotiation with pass rusher Von Miller earlier this summer, before agreeing to make him the highest paid defensive player in league history.

In an Instagram post, Sanders said he was “honored” to announce that he would be remaining with the Broncos past this season.

Elway said he loves the way Sanders competes and the intensity with which he plays.

The Denver Broncos apparently like what they’ve seen from Emmanuel Sanders in his first two seasons with the team. Sanders will be 30 in March, and after his big breakout season in 2014 (1404 yards, 9 touchdowns), his production of receptions yards per game dropped by 14% in 2015, although that might have more to do with the Broncos quarterback problems. He had 76 receptions for 1,135 yards last season.
