Broncos to start Trevor Siemian at QB against 49ers in preseason game
With the Broncos down 10-17 in the preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, Lynch connected with John Phillips.

Siemian and Sanchez will each play roughly a quarter and a half.
The Broncos quarterback competition is legitimately wide open at this point, even more so after all of Week 2’s action gave us no clear answer who should be the No. 1 option.
The 49ers then took control of the game with under 7 minutes left after Ponder hooked up with Dres Anderson on a 30-yard bomb for a touchdown. In the first quarter, the Broncos looked great.
It was a solid drive, but did stall as the team got close to the red zone. Siemian finished 10-of-14 for 74 yards and one interception. Thad Lewis completed 12 of 21 passes for 97 yards while Blaine Gabbert added 63 yards and one touchdown in 4-for-10 passes.
Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Paxton Lynch impressed in his National Football League debut against the Chicago Bears. Driskel found undrafted rookie Bryce Treggs on a 25-yard catch-and-throw, taking positive practice plays to the actual playing field. His final pass was intercepted in the last moments by cornerback Kenneth Acker. “We had a chance to have him come out of this game doing as well as he could, except for that one play when you think about it”. No excuse for that. “Poor, poor quarterbacking play”. Clowney abused New Orleans Saints tackle Andrus Peat to sack Drew Brees in the second quarter of the 16-9 win. “He’s going to continue to get better”. “As far as me personally, I think I am right where I want to be, making good decisions and throwing the ball really well”.
“We got a lot of great work in, a lot of long practices, a lot of good work for our offense against a great defense”, Gabbert said. The 49ers’ third exhibition game of the summer will take place Friday night against the Green Bay Packers at Levi’s Stadium. “So as we said before, from what we understand it’s not a long-term thing, it’s about just getting him back into it …”
Next up is Saturday night’s exhibition, the 49ers’ first road game under coach Chip Kelly. “That’s what we need to focus on right now more than anything”. Siemian’s third drive ended in a punt.
Kaepernick hasn’t thrown in team drills since last Wednesday, the result of what he initially called a tight shoulder but the team has since classified as a exhausted arm. Part of the reason was undrafted linebacker Bryson Albright, who had a tackle and recovered a second-half fumble. No announcement was made on the nature of his injury.

TV Channel: The game will be broadcast locally by 49ers and Broncos affiliates. LB Corey Nelson left midway through the second quarter with a wrist injury. DE Vance Walker, who tore his right ACL during a training camp practice earlier in the week, has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.
